MSSS X MUGS OBGYN WORKSHOP 2023

Obstetrics and Gynaecology (O&G) is one of the major clinical postings for medical students, offering a wide framework that encompasses both maternal care and women’s reproductive health. In recent years, medical students have shown increasing interest in O&G, inspired by the field’s close association with social change, patient continuity, and compassionate care for women from diverse backgrounds. However, due to patient modesty, especially during deliveries or episiotomies, many students—particularly male students—face limited exposure, which can hinder skill development.

To address this gap, the Malaysian Students’ Surgical Society (MSSS) in collaboration with the Medical Undergraduates Society (MUGS) of the University of Cyberjaya organized a comprehensive Obstetrics & Gynaecology Workshop. The program combined both theoretical learning and hands-on practice, enabling participants to sharpen essential clinical skills while cultivating deeper interest in the specialty.

The workshop was guided by Prof. Dr. Haizal, a lecturer for the O&G posting, and successfully created a supportive learning environment for aspiring doctors. With 35 participants and 20 committee members, the event not only strengthened students’ clinical competence but also encouraged professional growth and appreciation for women’s health.
